I am of the view that there should be a set mark up that on tobacco and its related products. Businesses should only sell these products just above a break even price. The sales of these products should not be a lucrative business especially when these profits cost lives.
In order to keep prices high and demand low, tobacco and tobacco related products should carry a higher VAT percentage than other goods.
Raise the price for both customers and consumers therefore as price increases the demand will decrease. When the demand decreases suppliers will supply less
The government could implement a law that anyone caught selling, buying or consuming tobacco or smoking and have serious consequences to be faced.
If people stop smoking in public areas and public eyes it would reduce the awareness of it smoking should be done behind close doors or a building that was just made for smoking, if self-employee who sell smoking items stop giving school kids smoking goods to deliver to they parents this will also stop awareness of it in young kids. If they also stop selling it to college and secondary kids this will also stop these from bring it to school, anyone that wants to buy/smoke must be 21 of Age with a ID to verify they age
The most effective solution is education as there are no sustainable benefits. The users and growers need to be educated with a view to develop an appreciation for the harm that can be caused. Government can also provide incentives to grow vegetables and other crops on your property where a single plant of tobacco or Marijuana would disqualify you.
….don’t import cigarettes is a good start…start from there
